A prolific letter writer [July 11] has now turned his sights on “misinformed” Americans who think that America is a democracy. If they had only paid attention in civics class, they would know that we have a republic. For him, a democracy is nothing short of mob rule. Of course, he knows no one is referring to direct democracy.
