Holbrook didn't have other details, including where the body was found.
Previous story: Authorities are searching for a man’s body they believe to be located in Lake Knickerbocker in Gainesville.
Gainesville Police are investigating the case as a possible suicide, Lt. Kevin Holbrook told The Times.
“There were personal belongings that were found (near the lake), so that’s why those search efforts are being directed there,” he said.
The man’s family called police around 9 a.m. Wednesday, June 22, and the search is ongoing as of Thursday afternoon, June 23.
Police were working with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Georgia Department of Natural Resources to search the lake using sonar and dive teams in target areas to locate the body in the 45-acre lake, Holbrook said.
